Twelve suspected al-Qaeda and Ansar al-Sunna members arrested in Kirkuk

Twelve suspected al-Qaeda and Ansar al-Sunna members were arrested in separate joint forces operations in Kirkuk province, Iraqi police in the province said Thursday (April 26th).

"Police and army forces carried out three attacks on hideouts belonging to Ansar al-Sunna and al-Qaeda in the villages of Malh, Tuwaila and Hawija north and south of Kirkuk last night," Kirkuk police spokesperson Lt. Col. Salam al-Jaf told Al-Shorfa.

"The operation led to the arrest of 12 gunmen, including five caught red-handed while committing a terrorist crime," al-Jaf said, noting that light weapons, 21 sticky bombs and fake IDs were seized during the operation.
