The Iraqi army thwarted a missile attack targeting Baiji oil refinery Wednesday (April 25th) in Salah al-Din province.

Col. Falah Kaddhum al-Zaidi, spokesperson for the Iraqi army's 4th Division in Salah al-Din province, told Al-Shorfa four al-Qaeda gunmen were behind the intended attack.

Al-Zaidi said an army unit engaged the gunmen, who were forced to surrender after their position was surrounded.

One Iraqi soldier was killed in the clashes, he said, and the unit seized three Katyushas, a locally-made missile launcher, light weapons, one sound bomb and a sticky bomb after the engagement.
