Two Iraqi soldiers were killed and three others were wounded when a car bomb driven by a suicide bomber exploded Tuesday (April 24th). The bomb was targeting an army checkpoint in the neighbourhood of Baladeyat, north of Mosul.
Ninawa police spokesperson Col. Khalid al-Hamdani told Al-Shorfa that the suicide bomber managed to get the car inside the checkpoint after all attempts to stop him failed.
The checkpoint was destroyed in the attack, and a number of military and civilian vehicles parked there were burnt.
Al-Hamdani accused al-Qaeda of being behind the attack.
