Iraqi army forces on Tuesday (April 24th) thwarted an attack involving a car bomb in Abu Ghraib, the Iraqi Defence Ministry said.
"The army discovered a car bomb loaded with 300 kilogrammes of explosives parked at a main street used by Iraqi army convoys," Brig. Gen. Ahmed al-Saadi, commander of the Iraqi army's 7th Division, told Al-Shorfa.
The army evacuated the area and carried out a controlled detonation of the car using a remote control device, he said.
Two local suspects were arrested hours after their fingerprints were found inside the car, al-Saadi said.
