The 13th session of the UN Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), held for the first time in the Middle East, kicked off in Doha, Qatar's Al-Arab reported Saturday (April 21st).
Some 8,000 dignitaries will discuss development, economy and investment around the globe and tackle issues related to social justice and women's empowerment.
Governments and the international community must meet the basic requirements of the peoples of this region, represented in their need to realise prosperity and for job opportunities, Qatar's Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed bin Abdullah Al Mahmoud said during the opening.
