Yemeni authorities have stepped up security measures around the Saudi embassy and its surrounding buildings in Sanaa, Kuwait's Al-Seyassah reported Friday (April 20th).
Increased security measures have also been undertaken near the general consulate in Aden and the consul's residence.
The newspaper reported the Yemeni Interior Ministry as saying that it "has ordered the security agencies that protect the Saudi embassy to be vigilant and on high alert to prevent any security breach".
The measures came at the request of the embassy after al-Qaeda claimed responsibility for kidnapping Abdullah al-Khalidi, the Saudi deputy consul in Yemen, on March 28th.

The risk of al-Qaeda has spread and penetrated in Yemen, especially after the former president stepped down from power. We see and hear daily in the news and on the pages of newspapers and magazines, what al-Qaeda has done and does in Yemen as their risk has burrowed and maximized, especially in recent times and with the new president, deposed Yemeni Vice President Ali Abdullah Saleh and the country entering in a new transition period. It is well known that Yemen is now going through a period almost of weightlessness; a stage that is natural for any country to go through, especially those countries that were sitting in the injustice and we have Yemen as a better proof, as you see who were politically or militarily suppressed or pressed under any name. The compressor is gone and in Yemen, there are now movements in the weightless forces of reality; there is disintegration in the Yemeni army. There is also restructuring there. There is re-structuring of the ministries and the political and authoritarian aspect in Yemen. There is almost re-structuring in all aspects of life in Yemen with no exaggeration. So, you will find those who want access to the rule of Yemen trying to take advantage of this valuable opportunity and hitting strongly, hoping to reach his destination. Those who are trying to control Yemen now, or part of it, are armed groups or organized movements such as al-Qaeda or several tribes who were swayed by the natural geographical isolation and want separation from the motherland. And we have in the Houthis on the border between Yemen and Saudi Arabia the best evidence and example. No one knows till now what will be the end. Terrorist control or armed groups in a pivotal state in the region such as Yemen sets off alarm bells of risk which would reach almost everyone.

May God defeat the kidnappers! May God destroy them! My heart is with the Saudi consul in Yemen. May God protect him from the hands of the infidel killers named al-Qaeda.
