Iraqi police Thursday (April 12th) arrested ten suspected al-Qaeda members during a raid and search operation conducted Wednesday evening in Sharqat district, north of Tikrit, in Salah al-Din province.
"Iraqi security forces launched a large-scale raid campaign in search of militants and elements affiliated with al-Qaeda in which 21 people were arrested," Salah al-Din police spokesperson Hasan al-Majmaie told Al-Shorfa. "However, 11 were released hours later due to lack of evidence against them, while ten others, found to be wanted by the Iraqi judiciary for belonging to al-Qaeda, were detained."
He said a small weapons cache was found at a suspect's house during the campaign.
