Customs officials at al-Haditha border crossing point in northern Saudi Arabia thwarted an attempt to smuggle more than 2.5 million narcotic pills into the kingdom Sunday (April 8th), Al-Arabiya television reported Monday.

Zayed Bin Attallah al-Zayed, the customs general manager for al-Haditha, said an inspector suspected there was a problem with a truck that was attempting to pass through customs.

During an inspection, customs officials found narcotics pills carefully hidden in the doors, ceiling and upper and lower parts of the truck.

Al-Zayed said the items were seized and the driver was referred to the proper authorities.
