Twenty-four al-Qaeda fighters were killed Monday (April 9th) during an attack on the 111th Brigade military barracks on the outskirts of Loder in Yemen's southern Abyan province, AFP reported.

At least 44 people died in the attack, including 14 Yemeni soldiers and a number of tribesmen who were fighting the militants.

The attack came after air strikes killed 24 suspected al-Qaeda fighters in their strongholds of southern and eastern Yemen over the weekend, according to the defence ministry and a tribal chief.

What is going on in Sanaa is a farce by all measures, and mere attempts to blind and fool the people. Whenever the problem with the south appeared, they invented a new “story” in order to misguide public opinion. But, ultimately, what is true is true! There will be no stability or security unless the south gets its state sovereignty to decide its own fate. Although the south is facing a fierce attack by the media and other killing, displacements and arrests, the people are ready to sacrifice for the sake of independence.
