Two suspected al-Qaeda members were arrested during a security operation in al-Duluiya, south of Tikrit, police in Salah al-Din province said Monday (March 26th).

"Intelligence led the police to the house of Fawaz Hasan, an al-Qaeda leader, and his aide Luay Othman in al-Duluiya," said Salah al-Din police spokesperson Hasan al-Majmaie.

"The police seized weapons and explosives that were found inside the building, which was a rest house used for al-Qaeda meetings," he told Al-Shorfa.

He said police transferred the detainees to a security centre for investigation.
