Participants in the "Second Gulf Forum of National Human Rights Organisations" in Oman emphasised the need to promote human rights throughout society, al-Hayat reported Tuesday (March 13th).

A statement released by forum participants called for enhancing the principle of transparency, building confidence in civil society, expanding the scope of national human rights committees in the Gulf, and boosting the independence of national committees.

The forum, which concluded in Muscat Monday, aims to strengthen ties between national human rights organisations in the Gulf Cooperation Council, civil society organisations, and regional and international human rights groups.
