Two al-Qaeda members were killed in Yemen when they tried to attack a Republican Guards camp in al-Bayda, Emirates news agency (WAM) reported Saturday (March 3rd).
The Yemeni Ministry of Defence said the men tried to attack a Republican Guards camp Saturday morning using a car bomb. The soldiers confronted the attackers, and the bomb detonated before it could reach its target. The two suicide bombers were killed while four soldiers and one citizen were wounded in the incident.
According to the news agency, the ministry said the vehicle, which was loaded with large quantities of explosives, caused damage to several nearby houses.
Al-Qaeda in Yemen has claimed responsibility for the suicide operation.
