A Sahwa leader in Abu Ghraib was killed along with four of his family members in a bombing attack on his house Friday morning (February 24th), Iraqi police in Baghdad said.
Lt. Col. Mushtaq Talib, spokesperson for the Baghdad police, told Al-Shorfa that gunmen planted improvised explosive devices (IEDs) around Muhsin al-Zawbaie's house and detonated them using a remote control device. Al-Zawbaie, his wife and three children were killed.
"When the police arrived on the scene, another IED exploded, killing a policeman and wounding seven others," Talib said.
Talib accused al-Qaeda of being responsible for the attack, noting that the police opened an investigation into the incident.
