A Sahwa member and two members of his family were killed when improvised explosive devices detonated around his house in Jarf al-Sakhar, Iraqi police in Babil province said Tuesday (January 31st).
Lt. Col. Ahmed Shahir, assistant police chief in Babil, told Al-Shorfa that gunmen used locally made explosives to blow up the house early Tuesday morning while the family members were sleeping.
Shahir said Sheikh Abd Hatimi, a leader of the local Sahwa forces, his wife and son were killed in the attack. Four other family members were seriously wounded.
Police began investigating the incident, and three people suspected of involvement in the attack were arrested.
