At least 25 people were killed and 52 others were wounded in a suicide car bomb attack Friday (January 27th) targeting a funeral procession south of Baghdad.
"At 11 a.m. a suicide bomber driving a car bomb attacked a funeral in al-Zaafarniya for Mohammed al-Maliki, his wife and daughter who were killed in an armed attack on Thursday," Lt. Col. Mushtaq Talib, a Baghdad police spokesperson, told Al-Shorfa.
Talib said the suicide bomber blew up the car near mourners. He noted that the victims included women and children and accused al-Qaeda of being responsible for the attack.
