Iraqi police in Baghdad thwarted seven terrorist bombings targeting civilians in various parts of the city, Ministry of Interior officials said Tuesday (January 10th).

Maj. Gen. Adil Daham, the ministry's official spokesperson, told Al-Shorfa that after police obtained information about the rigged explosives, they defused three car bombs that were parked next to two markets and a public road.

Police also dismantled four roadside bombs south of Baghdad that were targeting civilians visiting the holy shrines in Karbala province.

Daham told Al-Shorfa that three suspected al-Qaeda members were also arrested during the operation, and they are currently under investigation.
