Yemeni opposition parties named coalition head Mohammed Salem Basandwah to lead the first national unity government on Saturday (November 26th), after President Ali Abdullah Saleh signed an agreement on Wednesday to transfer power to his vice president, AFP reported.
Basandwah "will present his name Saturday to Vice President Abd Rabbu Mansour Hadi", to whom the presidential powers have been transferred, Joint Meeting Parties spokesperson Mohammed Qahtan told the news agency.
Basandwah, selected to head the "National Council of Peaceful Revolution Forces" when it was formed in August, had assumed posts in several governments under Saleh's regime, including the position of foreign minister.
Despite the power transfer, protests continue in the country, as demonstrators reject that the agreement grants Saleh immunity from legal prosecution.

I pray to Almighty God and supplicate to Him sincerely. I ask Him by His beautiful names and the highest attributes as well as His greatness, because He responds to whoever supplicates Him. Peace be upon the Prophet Muhammad; I supplicate to God to bless the Arab people in Yemen, to grant them security, safety and stability, and to reinforce Islam there. I ask God to stabilize the security situation in the country and spread security everywhere in the land of Yemen. I pray to God to grant people of Yemen safety, to prevent all evil and to protect them from adversity and problems. May God rid them of the tragic situation in which they live at the present time, and bless them through granting them a good government that abides by the Book of God and the Sunnah of His Prophet, in order to achieve justice and equality among people. I pray to God to bring back security and stability to the country. In fact, the current confusion will weaken the nation. I pray to God to bring down His anger and hostility upon anyone who wants to undermine the country's security and stability and to frighten innocent people. They are actually traitors, agents of foreign intelligence and terrorists who seek to sabotage the country, murder people and spread chaos and problems in the country. May God guide the rulers of Yemen to the right path, improve their conditions, and help them serve their nation so as to spread stability and security in the region. May God help Yemen to achieve prosperity and development in all areas in order to get rid of suffering, because the country is plagued by poverty, hunger, and the lack of funds and goods.
