The Saudi Railways Organisation awarded the final phase of the Haramain high-speed train project to al-Shoala, a Saudi-Spanish consortium.
The contract will be signed by end of November, Saudi Arabia's al-Iqtisadiya reported Thursday (November 10th).
According to the newspaper, the final phase of the project includes the supply and installation of tracks, signaling and communication systems, electric fittings, 35 passenger trains, together with maintenance equipment, operation and project maintenance.
The Saudi Railways Organization said the value of the second phase of the train project between Jeddah, Madina and Mecca is estimated at 36 billion riyals ($9.5 billion).
