The UAE announced Wednesday (November 9th) that it will donate $7.2 million to a number of UN funds and programs in 2012.

Ahmed al-Jarman, the UAE Permanent Representative to the United Nations, made the announcement during the UN Donors Conference for Development Activities in 2012 at the UN headquarters in New York.

"The UAE appreciates the efforts of UN agencies, organisations, programmes and funds to mobilise development and provide relief assistance to affected peoples."

Al-Jarman said he hoped all states and international donors would increase their contributions to essential international funding initiatives "to enable their governing bodies to meet the growing challenges resulting from the growing critical financial and economic conditions in our world."
