Baghdad Operations Command said Friday (November 4th) that several policemen were killed and other security officials and civilians were wounded in several terrorist operations in Baghdad and Ninawa provinces.

Col. Nouri al-Obeidi from Baghdad Operations Command told Al-Shorfa that two improvised explosive devices exploded in the al-Karrada neighbourhood late Thursday, targeting an emergency police patrol.

"An officer with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel was killed and four other policemen, as well as three civilians, were seriously wounded," al-Obeidi confirmed.

In the al-Amerya neighbourhood, Capt. Fahmi al-Dulaimi from the local police department told Al-Shorfa that a policeman was killed Friday (November 4th) and several civilians were wounded when a sticky bomb exploded near a policeman's car. The individuals who planted the bomb were not identified.

"The policeman was going to work when the bomb exploded," al-Dulaimi noted. "The civilians were wounded because they were near the car at the time of explosion."

In Ninawa, the provincial command said a policeman was killed and his wife was seriously wounded in an attack that targeted the man's house Friday morning.

Iraqi army spokesperson in Ninawa Col. Abdul Rahim al-Atwani told Al-Shorfa, "Terrorists attacked the policeman's house on his day-off, opened a heavy barrage of bullets on everyone inside, killing the policeman and wounding his wife."
