King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia appointed Interior Minister Nayef Bin Abdul Aziz as Crown Prince, a statement issued by the Saudi Royal Court said Thursday (October 27th).
Prince Nayef is succeeding Prince Sultan Bin Abdul Aziz, 86, who died of cancer on Saturday at a hospital in the United States. Prince Sultan was also the deputy premier, minister of defense and aviation, and inspector general.
Prince Nayef will keep his post as interior minister. The statement did not mention the defense ministry which is still vacant after Prince Sultan's death.
