A top attorney with the Special Tribunal for Lebanon said Tuesday (July 5th) that the men indicted in the case of ex-Prime Minister Rafik Hariri’s assassination will become "fugitives" when arrest warrants are issued, AFP reported.
"The moment the arrest warrants are issued, whoever is charged is no longer a free person and becomes a fugitive," said Francois Roux, the head of the Defence Office at the STL, adding, "My only advice to those charged is that they consult a lawyer as soon as possible."
Last week, the STL handed a sealed indictment to the Lebanese government as well as arrest warrants for the four indicted suspects. Roux promised the tribunal will provide a "fair trial."
