Farid al-Deeb, the lawyer of former President Hosni Mubarak, petitioned the government on Monday (June 20th) to allow a German oncologist to examine Mubara.
"The former president has stomach cancer and the tumours have spread through his body," al-Deeb said. Al-Deeb requested that Markus Buchler, the German doctor who oversaw Mubarak's cancer treatments in Germany last year, be permitted to examine Mubarak at the Sharm al-Sheikh hospital where he is in state custody.
Health Minister Ashraf Hatem contradicted al-Deeb, saying Mubarak's condition was stable, al-Masry al-Youm reported.

Would you please tell us in what way is he better than the rest of the prisoners? Why did you bring him a German doctor? My bones are aching, but I do not have enough money to even visit an ordinary doctor despite the fact that I did not steal or loot people. Please, have mercy upon us and stop this provocation.
