Egypt's former President Hosni Mubarak is worth no more than $1 million, his lawyer told CNN Sunday (May 29th).
Farid al-Deeb said the former president holds no assets overseas and "does not own anything else in Egypt or outside Egypt". Any wealth Mubarak has, his lawyer said, was acquired from saving "from working for 62 years".
Last week Mubarak was ordered to go on trial in connection with the shooting of protesters during the January 25 revolution and on charges of corruption. He has denied the charges.
"The president has serious heart problems," al-Deeb said, adding that "he suppresses a lot of his feelings."

Go away, because it is prohibited for you to lie to us while you have gotten this old. You cannot lie to God. You are fraudulent and you must be ashamed.

I wish that they would allow me to judge this lawyer. I swear this is prohibited, because the Egyptian people have suffered much. Indeed, you have the right to do so, because you do not feel anything and do not know the feeling of those whose money was stolen. OK, what is the source of the money that was stolen? You want us to believe that he had only one million pounds. He used to get a blood transfusion for his wife every couple of months, and he used to travel from time to time to be treated for different diseases. I want to know how he was able to afford this. If they exonerated him, he would jump out of his bed like a monkey. Even if we assumed that he is sick, how many sick people are there who lived all their lives without receiving any care? It was very difficult for some people to be treated in their country, let alone abroad. O God! Have mercy upon us.
