Qatar Football Association denies bribery charges

The Qatar Football Association denied allegations of corruption associated with its winning bid to the host the World Cup in 2022 on Monday (May 23rd).

There is no "first-hand evidence of any bribes being paid for any impropriety on the part of the bid committee", the QFA said in a statement on behalf of the Qatar 2022 Bid Committee for the World Cup. The association said that "all the allegations are hearsay and supposition".

Qatar's bid beat the United States, South Korea, Japan and Australia to host the tournament.
