The Egyptian state media quoted a legal representative of former President Hosni Mubarak on Sunday (February 20th) denying media reports that Mubarak maintained wealth outside Egypt.
The unidentified legal adviser said reports that Mubarak had assets and accounts abroad were malicious and intended to destroy the former president's legacy. The source told the official MENA agency that Mubarak has disclosed his assets every year since he became president in 1981.
Unofficial estimates put Mubarak's wealth in the billions.
