Assailants targeted at least four Christian homes in Baghdad on Thursday night (December 30th) using grenades and bombs, wire services reported. The incidents were the first following al-Qaeda's warning last week that it would conduct further attacks against Christians.
Ten bombs were detonated at various homes owned by Christians. In the most serious attack in southwest Baghdad, a group of attackers threw two grenades inside a Christian home, killing two people and injuring five.
"The aim of these attacks is to prevent Christians from celebrating the New Year's holiday," said military spokesman Qassim Moussawi.
