A man who dressed in women's clothes and opened fire on Saudi security forces was "wanted for belonging to the deviant group [al-Qaeda] and his involvement in criminal activities", the Saudi Interior Ministry said in a statement Monday (December 27th).
The man was identified as Mohammed Essam Taher Baghdadi, who entered the kingdom from Yemen, AP reported. Baghdadi disguised himself as a woman and wore a veil. He approached a checkpoint 400 miles south of Riyadh and began firing at the guards.
The guards returned fire and killed him. Authorities arrested a man driving the car who accompanied Baghdadi.
