Egypt's Foreign Minister Ahmed Abul Gheit announced Tuesday (December 21st) that he will soon make an official visit to Baghdad, Al Masry Al Youm reported.

It will be only the second visit of an Egyptian foreign minister since 1990. The last visit occurred in 2008.

Abul Gheit said the purpose of the visit would be to explore ways to co-operate with Iraq in the political and economic sectors. Iraq needs support from other Arab states, the minister said.

Abul Gheit said the Iraqi parliament's confidence in the government will move the country forward.
