Yemen’s Minister of Transport Khalid al-Wazir met with European ambassadors on Wednesday (December 15th) and asked them to lift the ban on cargo flights to and from Yemen, Saba news agency reported.
The ban does little to help Yemen in its fight against terrorism, the minister said. Qatar and the UAE lifted a ban on incoming cargo flights from Yemen.
Al-Wazir briefed the ambassadors about new security measures in place to screen cargo and train airport employees and pointed to the assessments of international security experts who have approved the new measures.
In October parcel bombs intended for the United States were found aboard cargo planes that left Yemen.
