Three opposition lawmakers filed a request on Monday (December 13th) to query Kuwait's prime minister over police actions at a recent protest rally.
MPs Mussallam al-Barrak, Jamaan al-Harbash and Saleh al-Mulla represent a caucus of 17 other MPs wishing to question Prime Minister Nasser al-Sabah "for breaching the constitution and for undermining public freedoms," Barrak told a press conference.
Special forces used batons against lawmakers and protestors at a public rally last week.
"What happened was not the mistake of the special forces, which were executing orders to implement the law, but the result of practices by participants," said Emir Shaikh Sabah al-Sabah, referring to the fact that demonstrators were warned ahead of time not to carry out the protest.
