The Iraqi National Alliance and Prime Minister Nouri al-Malki's State of Law Coalition have united to form a coalition that gives them 159 seats in the 325-seat parliament, BBC News reported Wednesday (May 5th). But that still leaves the new coalition four seats short of a parliamentary majority.

"The most important thing is to form an Iraqi government, to establish a government programme and to nominate the next prime minister," said Abdul Razzaq al-Kadhami, an adviser to Ibrahim Jaafari, ex-premier and a member of the Iraqi National Alliance.

We the Iraqis do not all the great accomplishments that Maliki has made, which is the building of a new Iraq, and he is the first one who put the foundations of democracy in place in Iraq. Abu Israa is a great man, contrary to all those who disagree with that. Indeed, he was the man of the hour. He saved Iraq from a sectarian war, although the Arabs wanted to undermine Iraq, and proof of that are the interventions in the elections from different Arab sides to make the newborn experience [of democracy] fail. Maliki aptly won, and the evidence is the Iraqi street. Go to Iraq and you'll find the truth among the people, not politicians. Abu Israa was a father of the people. I am Iraqi, I speak from Iraq, and I am not a beneficiary of Maliki, but I voted for him.

What is important is to accelerate the formation of the government and stop being loyal to the Americans. May Allah help the people of Iraq.

The deal is good and it prevents the Baath from returning to power, because the alliance opposes the Baath, unlike the other List. What do the others want? Do they want to disunite the Shias and make them fight each other, so they will become slaves again? I swear, Ayad Allawi fools us and opposes the Shias under the pretext of secularism, while he is a supporter of the Baath. However, many of our dear Sunni brothers do not know this fact, because the two coalitions have upright Sunni figures who have an honorable history. Are those people traitors? This is shameful for them, but they are unaware. You can simply say we want the Baath back in power to fulfill our promise to its leaders, however we will not let this happen, because we will not allow the tragedy of the family of the Prophet, peace be upon him, to happen again. We will always remember them in our hearts. I know these words may cause sensitivities, but whoever wants to be sad, then let him be. We want no more games.
