Saudi Arabia's ministry of education is looking to root out extremist teachers by setting up new screening provisions, Arab News reported Friday (April 9th). Supervisors will conduct interviews with applicants wishing to be teachers and "will focus on a teacher's ideology", said Sulaiman al-Maqoshi, a ministry official. In December 2008, the ministry said it would fire or transfer teachers posing "a physical or moral threat to the students", the paper reported.
