After the curtains fell on Star Academy's 14th prime Friday evening (May 21st), five contestants remain to compete for the Star Academy 2010 title: Ramy from Lebanon, Nassif from Syria, Mohammad Ramadan from Jordan, Badriya from Tunisia, and Rahma from Iraq.
Two primes remain before the public votes for the final winner for this season.
Two students left the academy Friday after the public vote saved Rahma with 69.96%. Sultan from Saudi Arabia, and Asma from Tunisia left after they received 20.26% and 9.78% of the public vote, respectively. There is no student vote in the final stages of the contest.
Lebanese singer Assi al-Hellani opened the evening with "Ya Ritni Ana Wala Inta" with Mohammad Ramadan. He returned later to sing his new solo "Baroudati" from his latest album "Assi 2010".
After he performed "Libnani" with Nassif and Ramy, al-Hellani told the students that fans are the source of his continued success. Before he left the stage, he wished the contestants good luck and congratulated the academy director and the program team on Star Academy for ranking first in its genre in the Arab world for the seventh year in a row.
Syrian star Rouwaida Attieh made her first appearance on the program. She performed her song "Bala Hub" along with Asma and Badriya, and "Shou Sahel El-Haki" with Badriya.
Badriya performed the song "Akthar" within the "Broadway" tableau, after which the public was taken on a journey to Russia with the most beautiful Russian melodies within a set entitled "Casatchok", presented by Nassif, Sultan, Ramy, Mohammad Ramadan, Asma, Badriya and Rahma.
Mohammad Ramadan and Rahma later performed the song "Bel Aaks" in a duet, and Ramy sang "Bi'tal Hammik" as part of the "Dolls House" tableau.
As for individual songs, Asma sang "Lawn Oyounak", Sultan and Rahma "Gharak Al-Furkan", Nassif sang "Ya Jar Al-Rida", and Badriya sang "Law Hatta Yorfodni el Alam".
The prime featured a number of video reportages including one on the highlights of Sultan, Asma and Rahma's journey in the academy, and the best of their performances. A second report featured a visit by Miral and Mehdi to Korea, and another about Rahma, Asma and Mohammad Ramadan's trip to France and Spain, where they visited museums and Disney Land.

This program is not good and its students are all about the money. There were people who had a good appearance and nice voices, but they were not selected.

Nasif deserves the title. Note that if Rahma had gotten the title, it would have made her arrogant. Muhammad Ramadan also deserves the title. I love Rami.

It is true that Star Academy, as a program, is specialized in finding talents and improving them, but there are many other things that have contributed to making the program distinguished and different from other programs. This program appeared in a form different from the other routine programs that discover talents and involve them in the arts community, as all the participants in this program came out of it, and they became famous and well known because of the wide spread of this program and the great number of its viewers among the Arabs; and they receive contracts from everywhere; the companies, channels and film production companies.

It is not the only program of its kind. In fact, there are many other similar programs broadcast on TV channels and which are not disapproved of. However, the problem is that this program is different from the rest by introducing talents, in its own way imitating the European programs. This is why people criticize it, disapproving of this method of introducing young Arab talents that would like to become stars in the music world. This program has become a failure, as it does not suit our taste.

Star Academy has won the admiration of many young Arabs, and especially the Iraqi youth. It has a large fan base. The high rate of voting by young people during this program, and the messages shown on the channel, are a testimony to this success. This program has impressed young people in Iraq and has a large audience, as it is not like the other ordinary music programs specializing in musical talents. It differs from the rest of the programs in the manner of presenting the candidates. Besides, it is a program for the youth, and the candidates are young as well as those who view it outside the academy. Its great success may stem from the great stars they invite on every episode. They are keen on inviting great Arab and foreign artists. Besides, this program holds many surprises, as it invites the families of the participants.
