The 2009 U-20 World Cup, the international soccer championship for under-twenties hosted this year by Egypt, is set to kick off on Sept. 24. The host team will face rising stars Trinidad and Tobago, who are making a name for themselves in North and Central America and the Caribbean (CONCACAF).
The championship involves 24 national teams divided into six groups of four. The first and second place teams from each group will qualify for the Round of 16, along with the four best third place teams. They will play a series of straight eliminations, continuing up to the final on Oct. 16. The schedule of the group stage matches is as follows, with all times in GMT:
